Frank Bakker
Function:
Process Operator
Location:
Eemshaven
Employed since:
March 1, 2021
Frank has been working at the Theo Pouw Groep in Eemshaven since 2021. He is a process operator and enjoys his job. Before Frank started at the Theo Pouw Groep, he worked as a chef in the hospitality industry. Due to the uncertainty during the coronavirus pandemic, Frank began to have doubts. The working hours were demanding, and he hardly saw his wife anymore. Frank made the decision to switch to a different job outside the hospitality industry.
Frank came into contact with the organization through a friend who already worked at the Theo Pouw Groep. After a pleasant conversation, he was able to start working as a process operator at the Thermal Cleaning Installation. After working for 1.5 years, Frank started the VAPRO A training program. This program lasts two years. He attended school in Groningen one day a week and also did a lot of home study. The program mainly teaches you about physics and chemistry, so that you can better understand the process. This also enabled Frank to assist with other tasks within the company.
A process engineer within the Theo Pouw Groep helped Frank a lot with this. He was his practical supervisor and explained the theory, helped him prepare for exams and with practical assignments. He even continued to supervise Frank during his retirement. Thanks to this supervision, Frank obtained his VAPRO A diploma.
Frank has noticed a clear difference in his work since completing his training. He has a better understanding of how the factory works and is now undergoing internal training to become a shift supervisor and panel operator. In the future, he also wants to obtain his VAPRO B certification.
What Frank likes about the Theo Pouw Groep is the friendly atmosphere. "If you are good to others, others will be good to you," he says. Frank works in a close-knit team, where everyone is there for each other. The management is also involved and visible on the work floor, which he appreciates. He finds the support from his managers pleasant.
Frank has already obtained many certificates within the Theo Pouw Groep, such as VAPRO A, VCA Basic, and his forklift certificate.
If you are good to others, others will be good to you.
What would you say to someone considering working for the Theo Pouw Groep?
No two days are the same. Frank starts every shift without knowing exactly what he will be doing that day. That makes his work varied and exciting.
