Joas Knol
Function:
Portal car driver
Location:
Eemshaven
Employed since:
October 7, 2024
Since 2024, Joas has been happily working for the Theo Pouw Group at our Eemshaven site as a driver of a portal truck. Joas joined the Theo Pouw Group through STL, an organization that supports working and learning in the transport sector. His first training company did not have its own trucks, which meant he was unable to complete his training there. STL helped Joas find a suitable internship and that is how he ended up at the Theo Pouw Group.
During his internship, Joas was supervised by our mentor driver in Eemshaven. This mainly consisted of preparing and assessing the internship assignments. Joas often drove concrete mixers from our branch in Groningen. Joas enjoyed working with the mixers, but doesn't miss it now that he drives a portal truck. A portal truck transports container bins. He prefers to drive with a trailer, because it offers more of a challenge. He enjoys visiting different places, from small backyards to large construction sites.
Joas appreciates the personal attention he receives at the Theo Pouw Group. Due to personal circumstances, Joas is unable to attend work one day every two weeks, and the organization is very understanding about this. A colleague drives his truck on those days. According to Joas, the atmosphere at the Theo Pouw Group is pleasant. His colleagues are calm and friendly. Everyone helps each other when necessary, but because Joas has a fixed vehicle, he often works independently. He feels well supported by his managers.
Joas obtained his CE driver's license at the Theo Pouw Group and wants to gain as much experience as possible driving trucks for the time being. He is open to further training in the future.
Joas appreciates the personal attention he receives at the Theo Pouw Groep.
What would you say to someone considering working for the Theo Pouw Group?
